Meet the pansies behind Teal Pansy Jewelry:

Teal Pansy Jewelry is made by Brettley Mason and Wyatt Riot. They are two love bears that like to create and share their magic together.

We believe that jewelry isn’t gendered, and that all bodies are good bodies.

Brettley Mason is the founder of Teal Pansy Jewelry, which started in 2016 with opening an Etsy shop and selling jewelry in one shop in Calgary, Alberta, the prairie grasses that they came from.

Brettley started crafting and making things when they were a wee child and he never stopped. She expanded her craftiness to jewelry in the fall of 2015 and have been honing her skills since then.

Though Brettley has been making jewelry for about 5+ years, they started learning about it (and loving it!) when they were in elementary school as their mom was a jeweller. Being around rocks and gems since she was young instilled a love of rock collections, gems and jewels, and all the rich textures and colours that come with them.

For Brettley, making jewelry is a self reflective and meditative practice. They use it to cope with the every days stressors related to mental health, being a survivor, and being queer and trans.

2015 was a big turning point in their life: they stopped doing the non-profit work that was draining too much of their heart, and started changing their life. He slowed down a lot: started cooking more and living more simply. When their hands are busy, their mind is still.

The crystal candles you see as part of Teal Pansy are made by Brettley Mason and Wyatt Riot, they have been creating and sharing this work since the fall of 2016.

In 2018, BMW (Brett married Wyatt, as Wyatt’s dad likes to say), and Wyatt joined the Teal Pansy Team more full time. Brettley still makes the jewelry and does a lot of the social media.

Wyatt Riot is from Portland, Oregon and enjoys creating, introverting and cooking. And all things relating to water. (In fact this was written from a bath tub)

We have also donated funds to Black Lives Matter Vancouver, the Tegan and Sara Foundation, Miss Major, and others.

We have have donated jewelry to a number of fundraisers, including for Walking with Our Sisters Calgary, Ulluilsc, an Indigenous food project in Adams Lake First Nation, Ignite: Black artists retreat, WAVAW (Women Against Violence Against Women) and many others.
